Made from 4mm - 5mm thickness veg tanned cow hides. The soles are 1/2“ thick and the bottom layer is a hard modern day sole leather which gives extremely good wear. The hob nails penetrate through the whole construction and clinch.

When ordering please supply a tracing of foot to ensure correct fit.

Leather Water Bottle

Although no archaeological evidence currently exists for this item it was made after much discussion and research. It is made around a polythene lining covered in leather. This is then whipped to a brass ferrule at the top to allow a wooden stopper to be inserted.

Kit Bag

Trajan’s column depicts legionnaires carrying a bundle above their satchels that looks very much like a form of kit bag. It was possibly used to stuff the cloak into but there is still some debate on the subject. What is clear is that it is approx. the same length as the satchel and was carried above it.

Made from veg tanned cowhide it has an 8“ diameter base with 18” sides. It is gathered at the top leather thong used as a draw string.

Satchel

Follows the pattern of the finds at the Bar Hill fort. The original was stitched down either side without a gusset to form the envelope shape. Some re-enactors have found it more useful with a gusset up the side. We therefore offer both styles, with or without gusset.

Made form veg tanned 1mm -1.5mm cowhide with studded ring closure. Dimensions are 18“ x 12”. When ordering please state if gusset is required.

Shield Cover

Made following archaeological finds from digs all over Europe. It is again made from veg tanned 1mm - 2mm thick cowhide with the boss covering made from 3mm - 4mm thick cowhide. The emblems can be made to any design and are extra to the cover.
